What should I know about Hurta River Estates?

Hurta River Estates is a recently completed 54 lot restricted residential subdivision nestled on the Colorado River located in the thriving City of Smithville, Texas.

Smithville is rich in history and is filled with ever growing local options for dining, shopping, entertainment, and other local businesses that provide the ideal laid back lifestyle for you and your family to enjoy. Our town is conveniently located to allow you to experience the simple life, but for those that have the occasional need to visit a “Big Box” store, the City of Bastrop is a short 13 minute drive away, and the City of Austin is in commuting distance as well, and the Austin airport is a quick 40 minutes away, without having to go through Austin traffic since on the same side of town. The larger cities of Houston, San Antonio, and Bryan/College Station can all be reached with less than a 2 hour drive.

Hurta River Estates has 15 lots with large tree lined Colorado River frontage. 14 of the picturesque river frontage lots range from 3.5- 5.7 acres in size. One river lot on the end of the main drive cul-de-sac is 12.9 acres in size. The subdivision also provides 35 standard residential lots for you to choose from. The remaining 4 lots that front American Legion Road are zoned commercial with light commercial use in mind, and is separated from the residential section by upscale privacy fencing. The subdivision restrictions are governed by a Home Owner’s Association (HOA) to protect the integrity of your investment in this neighborhood. All lots have access to City sewer and water, Bluebonnet Electric, natural gas, and cable.

The Colorado River in Smithville is a popular recreation destination for boating, swimming, tubing, and fishing, and the tree lined banks of the river frontage lots in Hurta River Estates provides the perfect getaway for gatherings with family and friends under the shaded canopy of the large trees near the river as can be seen in the video and pictures of the river and the river banks at Hurta River Estates on this website. Lots with river frontage can access the river from those lots, and there is also a public boat ramp to access the river within one mile of the subdivision, and the City owned Vernon Richards Riverbend Park is located along the river directly across highway 71 from Hurta River Estates. The park features a playground, an 18 hole frisbee golf course, fishing piers, swimming area on the river, softball fields, rodeo arena, public restrooms, camping and RV sites, and covered areas for public and family functions. The Buescher State Park is within 2 miles of the subdivision and it too provides many recreational opportunities for visitors.

Les and Gloria Hurta purchased this land 27 years ago with the dream of eventually providing an additional subdivision for the City of Smithville when the need arises one day, and the family looks forward to seeing this dream come to life. We will work hard to ensure this venture is an asset to you and our community for many years to come.
